Mid-Sussex
Shortly before 2300 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Indian River (80), Lewes (82), Millsboro (83), Station 91, and Medic 106 for a structure fire in Pot Nets Lakeside. A-91 with EMTs Wisseman and Hickman responded during dispatch and were advised it was believed to be working with possibly one patient. A-91 arrived at 2301 and reported a single story residence with smoke showing. After a brief investigation, the crew found the owner of the home in the doorway trying to make entry into the burning home. The crew of A-91 with the help of Firefighter/EMT Nguyen (volunteer at Indian River, off duty EMT from Station 91) assisted the patient to safety and into the ambulance. As this was taking place, 80 Command (Asst. Chief Ruckle) arrived and the crew advised him that he had a possible room and contents fire and that they would have a transport. Command then requested an additional BLS to cover the fireground operations. C-91 responded and handled that task while A-91 transported their burn patient to BMC. Command had C-91 and the second half of Medic 106 set up rehab for firefighters as needed. The crew also checked an additional resident who refused treatment. C-91 held on the scene until released by 80 Command. Units responding, 80 Fire Units, 82-2, 82-4, Rescue 82, 82-5 (to IR sta 2), 83-2, Rescue 83, 77-2 (to IR sta 1) FM-16, A-91, C-91, Medic 106, EMS 100, DSP, DSFP
