Mid-Sussex
Just before 1700 hours, the Sussex County area was hit with a severe thunderstorm bringing several calls to the County's Fire Service. The Long Neck area was no different. At 1726 hours, the Sussex County EOC alerted Indian River (second emergency in the district), Lewes (third emergency in the district), Millsboro, Station 91, and Medic 106 for a reported structure fire on South Gloucester Circle in the Fairfield @ Long Neck Townhouses. Due to apparatus from various agencies already being on the street, several fire and EMS units responded within a minute. Chief Deery (80-15) arrived first to find a townhouse with visible fire with a sprinkler activtion. Chief Deery assumed the Command and requested various fire units to complete various fireground tasks. B-91 was staged and the crew walked up to the scene to establish a rehab if needed. Due to the activation of the sprinkler system, the fire was kept in check and units extinguised the remaining fire within minutes of arrival. Command released the ambulance shortly after arrival. Units on responding and on scene, 80, 82, 83 Fire Units, B-91, Medic 106, FM-16, DSFP.
