Structure Fire with Injuries - Sloop Avenue, Pot Nets Bayside

Minutes before midnight, Sussex EOC alerted Indian River, Lewes, Millsboro, Station 91, and Medic 106 for a structure fire on Sloop Avenue in Pot Nets Bayside. C-91 and 80 Command marked up within minutes of dispatch and were advised it was a working alarm. 80 Command arrived and reported the same and advised our unit to stage across from the residence and set up a rehab area. C-91 arrived on scene and staged across the street until needed. As fire units arrived on scene, their crews began suppression efforts on the fire. As crews were laddering the roof, a firefighter slipped from the roof and fell to the ground. Crews from C-91 and Medic 106 raced to the down firefighter and began patient care. In all, two firefighters were taken to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes with non life threatening injuries. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the two injured firefighters for a speedy recovery.
