Mid-Sussex
Today the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride made its way through Delaware. The ride starts in Tanneytown, New York and goes to Roanoke, VA to the National EMS Memorial. The ride normally goes parallel to I-95 through the State of Delaware, but this year came down into Kent and Sussex to honor two of our fallen EMS workers, Michelle Smith and Stephanie Callaway. Riders stopped in New Castle County where Michelle was killed while assisting a motorcyclist that was involved in a MVC, then to Kent County where they stopped at the Blue Hen Corporate Center where a brief ceremony was held, then they were off to the Circle in Georgetown where a brief ceremony was held in honor of Stephanie Callaway. There were several ambulances from Sussex County present to honor our fallen heros. Riders will continue riding the rest of the week and end in Virginia sometime Saturday.
